Willem II der Nederlanden, 2025

Canvas, acrylic paint, oil paint, oil pastel
200 × 100 cm

A reflection on the constructed identity of King Willem II in dialogue with contemporary chemsex developments within the gay community.

An inquiry into how early identity formation embeds itself within the adult psyche, resurfacing through structures of power, desire, vulnerability, and collective belonging.

Navigating the tension between historical narrative and present day subcultural realities, the work questions how suppressed or mythologized identities continue to reverberate in lived experience.
